When my brother and sister in law invited us to watch a movie in Westfield and lunch I thought it was a great opportunity to try Burgista Bros at last! Shepherds Bush is their first outlet, but they also have another, new outlet in Baker Street… and from their website, they’re looking to grow further.
It is located a few mins walk from Westfield just along Shepherds Bush Common. I called ahead in case we would have trouble getting a table, but they said to just turn up. It was a Sunday at 2pm and there were a couple of tables taken, but largely quiet.
I loved the shabby chic décor, lots of exposed walls and large wooden tables. We took a seat and grabbed a menu. It is a Nandos-style ordering system, where you order at the counter and the food is brought to the table. They also have refillable drinks, which you get yourself.
So I went for the Cheeseburger with smoked Applewood cheese and added bacon and chilli sauce. I made it a combo with a drink and chips for another £2.50. I also tried the vanilla milkshake. I wanted to sample the wings, but they had run out 😦
The main event… the burger. Served in a glazed bun, it had a good proportion of toppings to burger. The bacon was one of the best I’ve tried… not too tough or chewy and tasted good. However, I have to say I was not a huge fan of the burger overall. They add a ‘burger sauce’ which is white and did not complement the meat and there was also a vinegar-y undertone to the burger (very technical term, I know!), which I found strange. The patty itself was fine.
Chips were good. They were sprinkled with herbs, which worked well.
And finally the milkshake. There was no way I was going to have a whole meal plus a milkshake, so I made someone else order it and had some of theirs. It was quite thin, seemed like half ice cream and half milk. Not thick and intense enough for me.
So all in all I wouldn’t go back. I was a bit disappointed with the burger, however don’t just take my word for it, give it a try and see what you think. Taste in burgers is a very personal thing 😉
This blog was written whilst sitting on a restored wooden table and bench in an independent coffee shop… I’ve begun to fulfil the stereotype, I’m sorry. I’m still working off a Microsoft computer, the Mac will mark my full transformation.
I’ve been there a few times and I recommend their Portabello burger. It works very well and has some nice chopped black olives. Try that next time

Thank you for the tip. Will do! 🙂
I might give their Baker Street branch a try, might have better luck there!
